TPO Roof System
Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) single-ply roofing membranes are among the fastest growing commercial roofing products and have gained broad industry acceptance for their many performance and installation advantages. As demand increases for heat-reflective and energy efficient roofing systems, TPO single-ply roofing membranes continue to provide exceptional resistance to ultraviolet, ozone and chemical exposure.
What looks like a single layer of rubber/plastic like material, the TPO membrane has proven through its durability, strength and flexibility to be one of the most effective layers between your building and the outside environment. Because of the fact that it is a single membrane, it provides so many different advantages. Those include:
Benefits of TPO:
- Faster install times
- Reduces accessory purchases
- High speed heat welding produces consistent, outstanding seam performance
- Can be mechanically fastened or fully adhered
- Blended with fire retardants and UV protection stabilizers
- Can be installed on higher slope roofs and even vertical systems, while still providing UL Class A Fire Rating
- Hail resistance as required by Factory Mutual 4470
- Contains no internal or external plasticizers that can migrate or volatize, causing the end product to become brittle or shrink
- Resistant to microbial attack, especially important in ballasted systems
- White reflective membrane saves energy and reduces “urban heat”
- Environmentally friendly, with non-halogenated, chlorine and bromine-free systems available
- Fabric reinforcements provide high tensile, puncture and tear resistance with minimal shrinkage
- Available in a variety of colors, including black
“TPOs are the new-generation roofing membranes that combine attributes of two of today’s popular flexile single-ply membranes EPDM and PVC.”
